About Us

Rainbow School began in Kahuku as a one classroom non-profit educational and childcare service in 1972. The center and main office is currently located at 56-463 Kamehameha Highway in Kahuku. Rainbow School Kahuku enjoys the distinction of being the first NAEYC accredited school in Hawaii. Since 1972, Rainbow Schools has expanded to include five additional centers:

Rainbow School Wahiawa opened in 1989
Rainbow Kaneohe opened in 1991
Rainbow Mililani opened in 1995
Rainbow School Honolulu was opened in 1996

We serve approximately 400 children and employ approximately 100 people. Our services are intended to meet the needs of young children between the ages of two and five years old (3 months – five years in Honolulu). The state of Hawaii Department of Human Services licenses all of our locations annually. In addition, all of our sites are required to actively seek accreditation by the National Association for the Education of Young Children or National Early Childhood Program Accreditation.
