Rainbow School began in Kahuku as a one classroom non-profit educational and childcare service in 1972. In 1986, Rainbow school Kahuku became the first center in the State of Hawaii to be accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. With Kahuku as the main office, Rainbow Schools now includes four additional sites:
We serve approximately 350 children and employ approximately 55 people. Our services are intended to meet the needs of young children between the ages of two and five years old. The state of Hawaii Department of Human Services licenses all of our locations. In addition, all of our sites are required to actively seek accreditation by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
We are a non-profit organization with a volunteer Board of Directors, an executive director, a business manager and directors at each school site.
